Baslay Hot Spring

Baslay Hot Spring is a natural sulfurous thermal spring in the mountains of Negros Oriental Province on the island of Negros in the Visayas, Philippines, where geothermal waters associated with the volcanic geology of Negros emerge in a forested highland setting and provide natural mineral bathing for local communities in one of the Philippine archipelago's most ecologically diverse mountain regions. Negros island, dominated by the sugar industry in its lowland plains and by exceptional biodiversity in its highland forests, hosts one of the Philippines' most threatened and endemic-rich tropical ecosystems, with the central mountain range of Negros protecting the last populations of several species found nowhere else on Earth. The Baslay springs, accessible in the highland forest environment of Negros Oriental, provide an opportunity to combine therapeutic sulfurous bathing with immersion in the biodiversity-rich tropical highland landscape that makes the Visayan island chain one of the world's most biogeographically distinctive archipelagos.
