Rymanow-Zdroj is a historic mineral spa in the Subcarpathian foothills of southern Poland near the Slovak border, drawing chlorurated spring water that includes the exceptionally mineralised Czajka source, which carries the highest total dissolved solids of any drinking spring in Poland and has been valued for digestive comfort and general wellbeing since the systematic development of the resort in the nineteenth century under the Austrian administration of Galicia. The surrounding Subcarpathian landscape of dense beech and fir forests, rushing mountain streams, and traditional Lemko and Boyko villages preserves the cultural and natural character of the Eastern Carpathian foothills in a region that was historically the crossroads of Polish, Ukrainian, and Slovak cultural identities, with wooden churches of the Lemko Greek Catholic tradition among the most visually distinctive religious monuments in this part of Europe. Rymanow-Zdroj retains the atmosphere of a fin-de-siècle Galician spa town in its colonnaded pump rooms, its Belle Époque villas, and its park of ancient trees, making it one of the most authentically historical of the small Polish mineral spring resorts that survive in the Subcarpathian arc.

Insider tip — The Czajka spring at Rymanów-Zdrój in Subcarpathia is one of the most highly mineralised natural waters in Poland, with an exceptionally concentrated mineral content. The intensely mineralised water is consumed in small measured doses at the resort's drinking pavilions. The Subcarpathian mountain setting of beech forests and rolling landscapes offers a soothing and restorative environment.
