Raksa Warin Hot Springs in the Surat Thani province of southern Thailand are situated within the buffer zone of Khao Sok National Park, one of the oldest and most biodiverse rainforests in the world — older than the Amazon and the Congo, with a species count that includes Asian elephants, tigers, tapirs and gibbons. The sulphurous springs emerge at temperatures comfortable for bathing amidst the primeval forest, and the facility is relatively simple, allowing the extraordinary natural environment to remain the primary focus. The nearby Cheow Lan reservoir, with its limestone karst islands rising from emerald water within Khao Sok itself, provides one of Thailand's most spectacular landscapes as a backdrop to the thermal experience. This combination of ancient rainforest, megafauna and geothermal springs is genuinely extraordinary.

Insider tip — Raksa Warin Hot Springs emerge in lowland rainforest near the Andaman Sea coast in Phang Nga, where sulfurous water bubbles up through granite at around 80 °C at the source before being cooled into bathing pools. The site is surrounded by rubber-tree plantations and secondary jungle, and resident macaques often raid unattended snacks. The spring sits close to the embarkation point for Surin and Similan island boat trips, making it a logical stop for divers.
