Umpqua Hot Springs

Umpqua Hot Springs is one of Oregon's most cherished natural geothermal bathing sites, tucked along the forested cliffs above the North Umpqua River in the Douglas County Cascades at an elevation of about 800 meters. The siliceous thermal waters emerge naturally into a series of tiered rock pools perched over the river gorge, offering a dramatically scenic soaking experience within the Umpqua National Forest. Temperatures vary naturally across the pools, allowing bathers to find their preferred heat, and the surrounding old-growth Douglas fir and hemlock forest creates an extraordinarily lush setting. The springs are accessible via a short trail and represent one of the finest examples of clothing-optional backcountry hot spring soaking in the Pacific Northwest.
