Circle Hot Springs is a historic thermal resort in remote interior Alaska, located 128 miles northeast of Fairbanks in the Yukon Flats region, where sulphurous hot springs emerge in the subarctic lowlands near the town of Circle — one of the original Alaska gold rush towns positioned on the Yukon River near the Arctic Circle. The naturally hot sulphurous spring waters provided warmth and therapeutic bathing for Alaska's pioneering gold rush communities in one of the continent's most extreme subarctic environments, where winter temperatures can reach –60°C and the aurora borealis blazes across dark skies for months. The historic resort buildings date to the 1930s and reflect the vernacular architecture of Alaska's pioneering era, now serving a small but dedicated community of visitors making the journey to one of the most remote accessible hot springs in North America. Circle Hot Springs' combination of naturally hot sulphurous spring bathing, Gold Rush Alaskan heritage, extraordinary subarctic wilderness, and Northern Lights viewing creates an experience of genuine American frontier remoteness available at very few hot spring destinations on earth.

Insider tip — Circle Hot Springs sits deep in interior Alaska near the Arctic Circle on the Yukon Flats, where sulfurous waters at 37°C emerge in one of North America's most remote thermal settings. In winter the surrounding boreal forest reaches -50°C, making the steaming pools an almost surreal counterpoint to the frozen landscape. The northern lights are frequently visible above the pools during clear winter nights, a combination found almost nowhere else on earth.
