Kanuti Hot Springs is a remote natural geothermal site in the Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge of interior Alaska, where siliceous thermal water emerges from the boreal forest floor in one of the most pristine and inaccessible wilderness areas in North America. The springs, accessible only by floatplane or a multi-day wilderness journey, are surrounded by vast boreal wetlands, black spruce forests, and the extraordinary wildlife of the Brooks Range foothills including grizzly bears, wolves, and vast caribou herds. The Kanuti springs represent one of the most extreme examples of North America's wild hot springs tradition — entirely undeveloped, requiring serious backcountry skills, and offering an unparalleled encounter with Alaskan wilderness.

Insider tip — Visit Kanuti hot springs in any season for a memorable thermal experience.
