Arizona Hot Springs in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River below Hoover Dam is one of the most dramatically situated natural hot spring destinations in the United States, where sulphate- and calcium-rich water at around 55°C flows through a narrow slot canyon carved in the volcanic rock of the Mojave Desert before entering the Colorado River, creating a series of travertine-rimmed soaking pools accessible by a challenging hike or kayak from Lake Mohave.
