Opened in 1998 within the Termas del Dayman complex, 8 km from the city of Salto, Acuamanía was South America's first thermal water park. Backed by private investment from 1996 onward, the project was declared of national interest by the Uruguayan presidency before it opened, built on a 15,000 m² municipal plot granted under a 25-year concession by the Intendencia de Salto.
Eleven warm-water pools drawing on the local thermal aquifer are complemented by hydromassage areas, jacuzzis, and Finnish and Scottish showers, alongside sports facilities and a children's play area. The rides and slides came from the same Canadian manufacturers who supplied Disney and Wet'n Wild parks, a detail that has shaped the park's playful identity for over twenty-five years.
