Katashina Onsen is a simple thermal spring in Katashina Village, Gunma Prefecture, forming one of four springs in the Katashina Onsenkyo cluster alongside Kamata, Oze-Togura, and Hataya—a grouping of mountain springs situated at the gateway to Oze National Park, Japan's largest wetland plateau and one of the country's most celebrated alpine nature reserves. The simple alkaline waters offer the gentle, warming soak perfect for hikers returning from Oze's famous boardwalk trails through water-lily marshlands and alpine meadows that bloom in dramatic succession across the short highland summer.
