Fukuroda Onsen in Daigo-machi, Ibaraki Prefecture, lies near one of Japan's most celebrated natural spectacles—the Fukuroda Waterfall (Fukuroda no Taki), one of Japan's three greatest waterfalls, which changes its appearance dramatically across the four seasons from spring flood to summer green to autumn gold to its most extraordinary winter form when the cascade freezes into a multi-tiered wall of ice.
