Gulchiler Amam

Gulchiler Amam is a historic Ottoman hammam in North Macedonia — 'Gulchiler' being the Turkish plural of 'gulchu' (rose grower or flower seller), suggesting the hammam served the flower merchants' neighborhood of a Macedonian Ottoman city, and 'Amam' being the Macedonian rendering of the Turkish/Arabic 'hamam' — preserved as a historical monument in a country whose Ottoman architectural heritage includes significant hammam complexes in the cities of Skopje, Bitola, and Ohrid that document five centuries of Ottoman urban culture in the western Balkans.
