The Geyikli Baths are a historic Ottoman hammam in Ezine District of Çanakkale Province in northwestern Turkey, near the Aegean shores opposite the island of Lesbos in a region saturated with ancient history from the ruins of Troy to the Gallipoli battlefield. The Çanakkale-Ezine area forms the geographical hinge between Europe and Asia at the narrowest point of the Dardanelles, and the Ottoman hammams of its small towns and villages served communities whose lives were shaped by agriculture, fishing, and the constant movement of ships through the strategic strait. The Geyikli Baths served a local population in a fertile corner of Anatolia that has been continuously inhabited since at least the third millennium BCE.
