Baths of Hüsrev Ağa

The Baths of Hüsrev Ağa are a historic Ottoman hammam in Şehzadeler District of Manisa Province in western Turkey, in the City of Princes where Ottoman crown princes served their administrative apprenticeships before ascending to the throne. Named after Hüsrev Ağa, a court official who endowed the bath as an act of charitable patronage in a city that benefited from the generosity of both the royal family and their senior retainers, the hammam served a district whose very name — Şehzadeler (Princes' District) — reflects its historical association with the imperial succession. The bath provided the residents of this historically privileged city with the communal bathing facility that was a standard expectation of Ottoman civic life.
