Dündar Bey Baths

The Dündar Bey Baths are a historic Ottoman hammam in Eğirdir District of Isparta Province in the lake district of southwestern Turkey, near the beautiful Lake Eğirdir whose clear waters reflect the limestone peaks of the western Taurus Mountains. Named after Dündar Bey, likely associated with the Hamid principality that controlled this region before Ottoman absorption, the baths reflect the pre-classical phase of Ottoman bath culture in the Pisidian lake district. The hammam served the community of Eğirdir, a picturesque town whose medieval castle rises from the lake and whose orchards of apples, cherries, and roses have made the surrounding Isparta plain one of the most productive agricultural landscapes in Anatolia.
