The Arap Baths (Arab Baths) are a historic Ottoman hammam in Gemlik District of Bursa Province, on the Gulf of Gemlik — a sheltered Marmara inlet that has served as the principal seaport of Bursa since antiquity — in northwestern Turkey. The Gulf of Gemlik's deep, calm harbour made Gemlik (ancient Kios, then Prusa's port) one of the most important maritime gateways serving the silk-producing region of Bursa from the early Ottoman period, and its hammams served both the seafaring community of a busy port and the agricultural workers of the surrounding olive-growing countryside. The name Arap (Arab) may reflect a historic association with North African or Levantine merchants who frequented the port, or commemorate a founder of Arab origin, following the Ottoman tradition of naming buildings after their founders' ethnic or geographical identity.
