The Parion Baths are associated with the ancient Hellenistic and Roman city of Parion, located near Biga District in Çanakkale Province on the southern shore of the Sea of Marmara in northwestern Turkey. Parion was a prosperous city known in antiquity for its granite quarries, its mint, and its status as a Roman colonia, and like all Roman urban centers it featured public bathing complexes as central expressions of civic life. The site preserves bathing remains that testify to the urban sophistication of this now little-visited city in the ancient Propontis region.
