Kurohime Onsen

Kurohime Onsen in Nagano Prefecture takes its name from Mt. Kurohime—the Black Princess Volcano, a distinctive volcanic peak near Lake Nojiriko in northern Nagano famous as the location of the forests planted and tended by naturalist writer C.W. Nicol, the Welsh-born conservation advocate whose decades-long effort to restore the mountain's beech forest became one of Japan's most celebrated private environmental conservation stories.
