Tai-an Hot Spring is a secluded thermal resort area in Miaoli County, nestled in a river gorge within the territory of the Atayal indigenous people in the outer ranges of Taiwan's Central Mountain Range. The bicarbonate-rich spring water, acclaimed for its alkaline skin-softening qualities typical of Taiwan's finest beauty springs, flows from deep geological sources along the Shuanglian River fault. Tai-an's relatively undeveloped character, combined with surrounding aboriginal forests, traditional Atayal cultural sites, and crystal-clear river pools, gives it a more authentic and natural atmosphere than many of Taiwan's busier hot spring towns.
