Balneario de Fitero

Balneario de Fitero in Navarre is one of Spain's most historically significant thermal establishments, comprising two grand 19th-century hotel complexes fed by sulphurous springs that have been used continuously since the 12th century, when the Cistercian monks of the adjacent Fitero monastery first channelled the waters for bathing and relaxation. The springs emerge at around 51°C with a strong sulphurous character and are particularly appreciated for their comfort and well-being. The spa's magnificent Victorian-era architecture, with its elegant bathing halls and ornamental gardens, represents one of the finest examples of 19th-century balneario heritage in Spain. The dry Navarrese landscape along the Alhama valley, dotted with vineyards and olive groves, provides an appropriately austere and beautiful backdrop.
