Balneario de Fitero is a grand historic spa resort in Navarre, situated 4 kilometres from the town of Fitero in the Alhama River valley near the Castilian border. The sulphated and sodium-rich thermal waters, known since Roman times and developed by the Cistercian monks of the nearby Santa María monastery in the 12th century, are among the oldest used springs in Spain within a long thermal tradition. The balneario complex comprises two grand hotel buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, offering thermal cure programmes alongside modern wellness treatments.
