The Termas de Corconte are a historic bicarbonate mineral spring resort in the Cantabrian highlands near the source of the Ebro River, where waters of exceptional purity and renowned diuretic properties have been commercially bottled and therapeutically prescribed since the nineteenth century under the Agua de Corconte brand familiar to generations of Spaniards as a benchmark of Spanish mineral water quality. The resort occupies an isolated upland landscape at around nine hundred metres where the Cantabrian mountains meet the Castilian meseta, offering a thermal experience of genuine natural solitude in rolling highland scenery of beech forests, cattle pastures, and wide northern skies. The Picos de Europa National Park and the spectacular Hermida Gorge — among Spain's most dramatic river canyons — are within an hour's drive, giving the thermal retreat an immediate context of grand mountain landscape for those who wish to combine waters with walking.

Insider tip — Set at over 900 meters in the Cantabrian mountains near the headwaters of the Ebro, Corconte's bicarbonate-rich spring water is famously cold-to-cool and has been bottled commercially since the 19th century. The balneario here combines the crisp mountain air of the Merindades comarca with the classical cure-thermale approach to digestive and kidney ailments. The landscape of limestone karst and beech woodland is a draw in itself.
