Balneario de Prexigueiro

Balneario de Prexigueiro is located in Ribadavia, a beautiful medieval wine town in the province of Ourense, Galicia, situated at the confluence of the Avia and Miño rivers and celebrated as the historic centre of Ribeiro wine production — one of Spain's oldest wine traditions, dating back to Roman times and producing distinctive white wines from Treixadura and Torrontés grapes. The sulphurous thermal waters of Prexigueiro rise from the granite geology of the Ourense thermal zone, which constitutes one of the highest concentrations of hot springs on the Iberian Peninsula, and are valued for their traditional therapeutic applications for skin conditions, respiratory ailments, and joint disorders. The balneario's setting within the narrow medieval streets of Ribadavia — whose Jewish quarter is one of the best-preserved in Spain — and its position among the vine-terraced banks of the Miño River make it one of Galicia's most historically and viticulturally distinctive thermal destinations.
