Perched at 1,150 meters in the Catalan Pyrenees, this bathing site draws on a naturally sulfurous, bicarbonate-rich spring gushing at 58°C, among the hottest in the Pyrenean range. As early as 1756, Dr. Thomas Carrère documented the source in his treatise on the mineral waters of Roussillon, and his son Joseph-Barthélémy-François later confirmed its sulfurous composition through further analysis.
The arrival of the railway in 1910 opened the resort to visitors from across France, while Jean Poudade led a full renovation of its hydrotherapy facilities starting in 1906. Today, three outdoor pools around 37°C, thermal-water shower ramps, and an indoor wellness area with eucalyptus-scented hammam and sauna carry on this mountain tradition, framed by views of the surrounding Catalan peaks.
