Dorres is a granite-built mountain village perched at 1,400 metres in the Cerdagne plateau of the French Pyrenees, home to one of the most authentic and naturally integrated thermal pools in France. The open-air pool, carved directly into the granite bedrock, is fed by bicarbonate spring water maintained at a natural 36 degrees Celsius, creating a striking contrast with the crisp mountain air and the panoramic views of the Catalan Pyrenees. Bathing at Dorres is a genuinely wild and unmediated thermal experience, combining geological authenticity with an Alpine landscape of exceptional beauty.
Insider tip — Perched at 1,450 meters in the high Pyrenean Cerdagne plateau near Font Romeu, Dorres' open-air thermal pool is carved into natural granite and fed by 38°C sulfurous springs in a spectacular mountain setting. On clear mornings — which are plentiful given Cerdagne's 300+ annual sunshine days — bathers float under cerulean skies ringed by peaks above 2,900 meters. The pool is accessible year-round, and winter bathing with snow on surrounding peaks is a classic Pyrenean experience.
