The Thermes des Arènes take their name and part of their identity from the neighbouring landmark: the Dax bullring, built in reinforced concrete from 1913 following a 1911 town council decision, and inaugurated on 10 May 1913 by mayor Octave Lartigau in front of 5,500 seats. Designed by architect Albert Pomade, it displays a neo-Moorish style inspired by the bullrings of Seville, with white twin towers flanking its monumental gate — the whole complex listed as a historic monument since 2013.
Set in a green, lakeside environment by the Estey lake and its health trail, Thermes des Arènes offers rheumatology and phlebology cures open every day except Sunday. The site benefits from Dax's standing as one of France's oldest thermal towns, where hot springs and péloïde mud have been used since Roman times.
