Valparaíso Termal

Valparaíso Termal is a thermal spring resort in Valparaíso, a municipality in the northern sierra of Zacatecas state in northwestern Mexico, regionally celebrated both for its aguas termales and for the dramatic landscape of its great mountain range — the Sierra de Vallecillo — and the numerous haciendas that testify to the colonial silver mining wealth of this arid highland region of New Spain where Spanish conquistadors and miners built monumental estates in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Zacatecas, a UNESCO World Heritage mining city, was one of colonial New Spain's silver capitals, and the thermal springs of Valparaíso have served the mining communities, hacienda workers, and regional travelers of the sierra since the colonial period as a resource for bathing and relaxation in an otherwise arid and demanding landscape. The thermal springs offer naturally heated mineral waters in the rugged and historically layered landscape of northern Zacatecas, where the colonial hacienda heritage, the silver mine legacy, and the geothermal waters of the Sierra Madre together create an experience of great cultural and natural depth.
