Terme Daruvarske Toplice

Terme Daruvarske Toplice is a historic thermal spa in Daruvar, the largest town in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County of central Croatia, where bicarbonate and calcium-rich spring waters rising at a natural 47 degrees Celsius have been in therapeutic use since Roman times — the ancient Roman colony of Aquae Balissae was established here by the legions during the 1st century AD. The thermal complex, continuously operated since the Austro-Hungarian period when Czech settlers who colonized the area in the 18th century developed the springs into a formal resort, preserves a remarkable blend of Roman, Croatian, and Central European cultural heritage in a Slavonian agricultural landscape. The Daruvarsko brewery, founded in 1911 and producing Slavonia's most celebrated beer, represents the Czech heritage of the local community, making a visit to the Roman thermal springs followed by a local beer tasting an authentically Slavonian experience of multicultural thermal tradition.
