On the island of Ischia, in the Bay of Citara, Giardini Poseidon draws on thermal waters exploited for more than 2,500 years, already known in Roman times. The park itself was born in 1959 from the vision of German humanist Gernot Walde, who arrived on the island in the wake of the Grand Tour and imagined a thermal-garden concept blending nature with relaxation.

The project was later carried forward by Bavarian industrialist Ludwig Kuttner in the 1970s and by Anton Staudinger from 1983, who modernized it into today's largest thermal park on the island, spread across pools set amid Mediterranean gardens overlooking the sea.

Insider tip — Make the most of the waters of Poseidon Gardens at 40°C, ideal for a session of thermal relaxation.
