Chepchuk Hot Springs

Chepchuk Hot Springs is a natural geothermal site in the Kerio valley of Elgeyo Marakwet County in Kenya's Rift Valley province, where lightly mineral oligomineral thermal water surfaces from the volcanic basement of the East African Rift in the dramatic Kerio valley — one of Kenya's most spectacularly scenic landscapes. The springs are used by the Marakwet people, skilled traditional irrigators who have maintained gravity-fed furrow irrigation systems along the Cherangani Hills escarpment for centuries. The extraordinary Kerio valley, with its sheer 1,000-metre escarpment walls, the spectacular Kerio valley viewpoints, and the Cherangani Hills hiking opportunities, provides one of the most dramatic Rift Valley settings of any Kenyan hot spring.
