Kikuletwa Chemka Hot Springs

Kikuletwa Chemka Hot Springs — also known as Chemka or the Hot Springs of Kilimanjaro — emerge in a forest clearing near Moshi in the Kilimanjaro Region of northern Tanzania, at the foot of Africa's highest mountain. The springs feed a series of deep, crystalline turquoise pools shaded by ancient fig trees whose roots trail into the water, creating an environment of such improbable natural beauty that it has become one of Tanzania's most sought-after off-the-beaten-path destinations.

The thermal water surfaces at a gentle 32 °C — warm rather than hot, like a perfectly tempered outdoor pool fed by the earth itself — with a neutral pH of 7.3 and exceptional clarity.
