Thermes Oulmès

Oulmes is a small mountain town in the Khemisset province of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region in central Morocco, at 1,300 metres altitude in the Middle Atlas mountains, home to the most famous mineral spring in Morocco — the Oulmes source, whose naturally carbonated bicarbonate water has been bottled and sold across North Africa since 1933 and is served in virtually every Moroccan restaurant and hotel. The spring waters filter through the ancient Paleozoic schist and quartzite formations of the Moroccan Meseta, producing a naturally sparkling and mineral-rich water that has become a symbol of Moroccan domestic mineral culture. The Middle Atlas cedar forests surrounding Oulmes are home to the Barbary macaque — the only wild primate in Africa north of the Sahara — whose populations gather near the springs and forest edges, creating a uniquely atmospheric wildlife encounter complementing the mineral spring experience.
