Langtang Hot Spring

Langtang Hot Spring is a natural sulfurous thermal spring in the Langtang Valley of Rasuwa District in the Bagmati Province of Nepal, located within the Langtang National Park at approximately 2,500 metres altitude in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan range — a protected landscape of exceptional biodiversity hosting red pandas, snow leopards, and the Tamang community whose Tibetan Buddhist culture permeates the valley's monasteries, prayer flags, and chorten (stupa) shrines. The springs provide warm therapeutic bathing after demanding trekking stages on the Langtang circuit, deeply appreciated by hikers completing the challenging approach from Syabrubesi through the steep rhododendron and oak forests of the high Himalayan foothills. The springs gained renewed emotional significance after the 2015 Gorkha earthquake triggered a catastrophic landslide that destroyed the Langtang village and killed hundreds of residents and trekkers, making recovery of the valley's thermal spring heritage part of the broader community rebuilding effort.
