In the Yanque district, at the heart of the Colca Canyon, the Chacapi baths spread across both banks of an Andean river, linked by a swinging bridge wobbly enough to be part of the experience. Six pools in total, three on each side, offer varied views over the surrounding mountains, with the newer pools — reached after crossing the bridge — considered the most scenic.

About 2 km from the centre of Yanque, less than five hours by road from Arequipa, the site is open from 6am to 6pm. Weekdays, Monday through Thursday, are the best time to visit for a quieter soak amid the Andean scenery.

Insider tip — After your soak at Baños de Chacapi, explore the area around Baños de Chacapi to extend the relaxation.
