In the remote Nyakabuye district of southern Rwanda, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bugarama Hot Springs occupy a landscape shaped by the great East African Rift. Rolling hills covered in banana groves and terraced farmland surround this developed site, which has been fitted with basic amenities to welcome visitors making the journey to this far corner of the country.
The waters emerge at a comfortable 35 °C, offering a pleasantly warm immersion suited to long, unhurried soaks. The calcium-rich mineral content gives the water a subtly dense, nourishing quality, while the balanced neutral pH of 7.5 keeps the experience gentle on the skin. Bugarama represents one of Rwanda's lesser-known geothermal assets, valued locally as a place of rest and relaxation set against a backdrop of extraordinary African rift scenery.
