Gisenyi Hot Springs

The Gisenyi Hot Springs are located in the lakeside city of Gisenyi — now known as Rubavu — in the Western Province of Rwanda, on the northern shore of Lake Kivu. Sitting within sight of the Virunga volcanoes, whose peaks define the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the springs emerge in a landscape of striking scenic intensity: the deep blue expanse of the lake, the green hills that tumble toward its shores, and the distant profiles of volcanic summits all converge to create a setting of remarkable natural drama.

The thermal water surfaces at 40 °C, offering a welcoming, body-temperature warmth particularly appreciated during the cool evenings that characterize the elevated lake shoreline, and carries a balanced pH of 7.3.
