The Kinigi Thermal Springs are natural geothermal-sulfurous spring sites near Kinigi in the Musanze District of northern Rwanda, at the southern foot of the Virunga Volcanoes — the chain of active and dormant volcanoes that forms one of the world's most important mountain gorilla habitats and the setting for Dian Fossey's legendary gorilla conservation research immortalised in Gorillas in the Mist. The springs emerge in the volcanic landscape below the Virunga park boundary, where the geothermal activity of the rift-associated volcanic chain that produced Volcanoes National Park's six volcanoes brings warm sulfurous mineral water to the surface in the lush green agricultural landscape of the Musanze highlands.
