Ronneby Brunn

Ronneby Brunn is a historic mineral spa park in Ronneby in the Blekinge province of southeastern Sweden, where ferruginous and bicarbonated spring waters have been used since the seventeenth century in one of the finest landscaped spa parks in Scandinavia, its romantic English-style grounds of ancient trees, wooden pavilions, and mineral spring pavilions preserved in a condition that makes it one of the most atmospheric surviving examples of Nordic park thermal culture. Karlskrona, fifteen kilometres to the south, is Sweden's only purpose-built Baroque city, founded by King Charles XI in 1680 as the base of the Swedish Navy and constructed on a series of islands according to a grand formal plan that earned it a UNESCO World Heritage designation as the finest example of late-seventeenth-century Scandinavian urban planning. The iron-rich springs of Ronneby, traditionally appreciated for their revitalising and restorative qualities, sit within cycling distance of a UNESCO naval city whose docklands, admiralty buildings, and stone arsenals tell the story of Swedish imperial power at its height.
