Raksawarin Hot Spring Ranong

Ranong, the capital of Thailand's southernmost province on the Andaman Sea coast, is one of the country's rainiest cities, its position on the Isthmus of Kra receiving over 5,000 millimetres of annual rainfall that sustains extraordinary biodiversity in surrounding mangrove forests, coral reefs, and the pristine islands of Mu Ko Ranong Marine National Park. Raksawarin Hot Spring is a public thermal park in the heart of Ranong city, its sodium and bicarbonate geothermal waters emerging at around 65 degrees Celsius from volcanic activity in the Tenasserim Hills, with communal soaking pools and steam baths deeply embedded in the thermal spa culture of this Thai-Burmese border city. The nearby Victoria Point in Myanmar accessible by longtail boat, the mangrove estuary kayak tours, and the pristine archipelago of Surin Islands with its coral reefs and sea nomad Moken communities make Ranong one of southern Thailand's most geographically and culturally rich provincial capitals.
