Garm Chashma Hot Springs is one of Tajikistan's most celebrated thermal sites, located near the historic Silk Road town of Ishkashim in the Wakhan valley of the Pamir mountains, where calcium-rich water at around 60°C emerges from ancient geological faults and cascades over dramatic travertine terraces. The springs, whose name literally means 'hot spring' in Persian/Tajik, are surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery at over 2,000 metres elevation, with the Hindu Kush visible across the river in Afghanistan. The travertine formations and the remote Pamiri landscape make Garm Chashma one of the most visually spectacular thermal sites in all of Central Asia.
