Köse Hot Springs is a natural geothermal site in Gümüşhane province of northeastern Turkey in the Pontic Alps, where bicarbonate-rich thermal water emerges from the geological structures of the Eastern Black Sea mountains in a landscape of dramatic forested alpine terrain. The springs are used by the surrounding highland communities for therapeutic bathing within the Turkish kaplıca tradition, and the remote mountain setting gives the experience an authentic and unhurried character. The Gümüşhane region, known for its ancient silver mining heritage (the name means 'Silver House'), traditional Pontic Greek architecture, and the spectacular Pontic Alps rising above the Black Sea coast, provides a fascinating eastern Anatolian setting.
