Kibale Hot Springs

Kibale Hot Springs in the buffer zone of Kibale National Park in western Uganda are set within one of Africa's most primate-rich ecosystems — a tropical forest that is home to the highest density of primates on the continent, including over 1,500 chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys and twelve further primate species. The sulphurous springs emerge from the volcanic basement of the Rwenzori mountain foothills at temperatures comfortable for bathing, and the surrounding forest environment — with chimpanzee calls audible from the pools and forest birds visible in the canopy above — creates a wildlife immersion that no conventional spa can replicate. The nearby Bigodi wetland sanctuary, with its papyrus swamps and shoebill stork, and the volcanic crater lakes of the Fort Portal region complete what is one of East Africa's most extraordinarily biodiverse landscapes for any thermal visitor.
