Panyimur Hot Springs

Panyimur Hot Springs is a natural thermal site on the western shore of Lake Albert in northwestern Uganda, where iron-rich hot water emerges from the earth at the edge of the Albertine Rift in one of Africa's most biodiverse and scenically dramatic locations. The springs are used by the local Alur people for bathing and fishing, and the warm water attracting fish creates an unusual combination of thermal activity and artisanal fishing culture. The Lake Albert shoreline, with its extraordinary birdlife, Nile Delta scenery, and the backdrop of the Blue Mountains of the Democratic Republic of Congo across the lake, makes Panyimur a visually stunning thermal destination.
