Chuzenji Onsen is located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture near the shores of Lake Chuzenji, a volcanic caldera lake formed by ancient lava flows from Mount Nantai that now rests at over 1,200 meters elevation, surrounded by the shrines, temples, and cryptomeria-lined avenues of the Nikko UNESCO World Heritage Site.
