Gökçedere Baths

The Gökçedere Baths are a historic Ottoman hammam in Demirözü District of Bayburt Province in the rugged northeastern Anatolian highlands, where deeply eroded river valleys cut through an ancient and sparsely inhabited landscape. The Demirözü valley sits along the historic caravan route between the Black Sea coast and Iran, and its hammam served a mountain community whose daily life was shaped by the demands of high-altitude animal husbandry and the seasonal passage of traders.
