Ulamış Baths

The Ulamış Baths are a historic Ottoman hammam in Seferihisar District of İzmir Province on the Aegean coast of western Turkey, in a district rich in ancient Ionian ruins, Ottoman village architecture, and the natural beauty of the Aegean coastline that has made Seferihisar a model of sustainable Mediterranean rural culture. Like the many other neighbourhood hammams distributed across the villages and settlements of the İzmir hinterland, the Ulamış Baths served a community as the social and hygienic anchor of local life, providing the weekly bathing ritual that was simultaneously a religious requirement and a deeply anticipated social occasion in Ottoman Aegean communities.
