The İmamköy Kaplıcası (Imam Village Thermal Baths) are a sulphurous thermal spring facility in Efeler District of Aydın Province in western Turkey, in the fertile Büyük Menderes (Maeander) valley that was one of the most densely inhabited and culturally rich landscapes of the ancient Aegean world. Named after the village of İmamköy, the sulphurous mineral waters have been enjoyed by local communities for generations within a long thermal tradition, building a reputation rooted in the ancient custom of mineral spring use in the Maeander valley. The kaplıca continues the long tradition of geothermal bathing in this region, where ancient Hellenistic and Roman cities built elaborate thermae to exploit the volcanic mineral springs of the Maeander rift zone.

Insider tip — İmamköy Kaplıcası near Aydın draws on the sulfurous geothermal springs of the Büyük Menderes (Maeander) valley — one of Turkey's most geothermally active regions, where the same tectonic forces that created Pamukkale's travertine terraces produce hot mineral water throughout the Aegean hinterland. The springs serve a region of ancient Carian and Lydian heritage in the fertile valley whose winding course gave the world the word meander.
