Tyana Roman Baths

Insider tip — Tyana (modern Kemerhisar) in the Niğde province was the most important city of ancient Cappadocia — birthplace of the philosopher and mystic Apollonius of Tyana, a 1st-century AD sage whose miracle-working reputation rivalled that of Jesus among pagan Romans. The Roman Baths at Tyana were fed by a magnificent aqueduct, parts of which still stand, in a city at the foot of the Taurus mountains where the Cilician Gates pass opened the route between Anatolia and the Levant.
