Banjë e Pejës

Banje e Pejes is a thermal spring complex near the city of Peje (Pec) in western Kosovo, set at the edge of the Rugova canyon — one of the deepest canyons in the Balkans — where bicarbonate-rich spring waters emerge from the limestone and crystalline formations of the Prokletije (Accursed Mountains), the highest range of the Dinaric Alps. Peje is home to the Patriarchate of Pec, a complex of four Serbian Orthodox churches dating from the 13th and 14th centuries, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Danger — making the thermal springs in the immediate vicinity of this sacred site a destination of both geological and spiritual significance. The Rugova canyon, the Prokletije wilderness, and the UNESCO Patriarchate make Banje e Pejes a thermal destination embedded in one of the Balkans' most dramatic and historically charged landscapes.
