Chisumbanje Hot Springs is a natural geothermal site in the Lowveld of southeastern Zimbabwe near the Save River, where lightly mineral oligomineral water surfaces from the ancient granite basement of the Zimbabwean craton in a hot and dry savannah landscape. The springs are used by the surrounding rural Shona communities for bathing and relaxation in a long local tradition of engagement with the land's natural resources. The surrounding Save Valley, one of Zimbabwe's most biodiverse conservation areas and home to one of Africa's largest concentrations of black rhinoceros under intensive protection, provides an exceptionally wildlife-rich context for this modest natural thermal site.
