Khukh Lake Hot Springs

Khukh Lake Hot Springs emerge near one of Mongolia's most dramatic volcanic landscapes, where the Khorgo extinct volcano rises from the steppe in a frozen lava field of extraordinary age and texture, and the adjacent Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur — the Great White Lake — spreads across the highland plateau in shimmering blue contrast to the dark basalt surrounding it. This volcanic terrain in central Arkhangai Province represents some of the most geologically compelling scenery in all of the Mongolian interior, accessible by rough track across the open steppe and visited by herders, travelers, and birdwatchers drawn to the lake's rich wetland margins.
